So blessed....

It has been quite awhile since I've gotten around to updating the happenings. We've been doing a lot of great stuff which I'm going to post soon but here is what has been going on recently:

Brian was in an accident on his motorcycle at work while responding to a traffic accident on November 25th. He came away with minor injuries and was airlifted to Arrowhead Medical Center. We were reminded again of God's sovereignty, His ultimate control and His protective and Almighty hand in our lives. Brian could have easily died or been severely injured in the crash but God protected him in so many ways. We are so grateful to have him home and doing so well.

The girls took the opportunity to decorate his walker for him :)

And he still have found time to play. He and Avi are being explorers looking for lost (and wild!) animals. Apparently all explorers wear ski caps and carry Easter or Christmas purses.

Obviously, we had much to be Thankful for this Thanksgiving. Brian was home from the hospital and able to have Thanksgiving dinner with us. We feel blessed that the accident happened during the holidays so at least we know he gets Christmas off!

Young Scientists Club

Our homeschool journey and my dad's retirement started at about the same time. It was the perfect opportunity to utilize our desire to incorporate family and community into our home education and my dad's love for science. The two of us began brain-storming and came up with the Young Scientists Club. It is a group of about 15-20 families, some homeschool and some don't, and we meet 2 times a month to go on field trips or do experiments or just learn about science in a hands-on way. We have only had three meetings so far but they have been a lot of fun!

Our first trip was to the Mojave River. We explored the trails leading to the river bottom.

The kids found a crab claw

Our second trip was to the planetarium where we watched a movie about the Andromeda Galaxy. Our third field trip was to the Observatory. We got to view Mars, Venus and the Moon through the telescope!

Homeschool Week 5

After our trip to Riley Farms and with it being September, week 5 of school was all about apples! We opened our treasure box and it revealed all things apples!

We had an apple taste test. It was really fun!

The girls both did all kinds of apple crafts and activities

They decided to take a break and play school on their own for awhile. It was so cute to watch :)

One day, we took advantage of the beautiful day and did school outside

This is one of our new games. See and Solve Math

We of course made time for the ballerina witch!
